Bees in decline. More than honey.

http://sos-bees.org/

The next time you see a bee buzzing around, remember that much of the food we eat depends significantly on natural insect mediated pollination. Up to 75% of our crops, in particular the production of apples, strawberries, tomatoes and almonds would suffer some decrease in productivity without insect pollination.Since the late 1990s , beekeapers around the world have observed the misterious and sudden dissapearance of bees. The bee decline affects the human kind too. Our lives depende in theirs.

A major threat to bees comes from the toxic chemical pesticides used in agriculture. Several pesticides are really bbee-killers, especially the neocotinoids. In addition, bees are weakened by climate change, parasites and the monotonous ladscapes created by intensive agriculture that leads to a loss of biodiversity.
